Our History

In the late 90’s, while working at regional and national banks, founder and Chairman, Steven D. Carr realized less and less focus was being given to individuals and small business owners by area banks. Knowing just how important those customers are, Mr. Carr had a vision of starting a new, locally owned bank dedicated to refocusing on those individuals.

In 1999, that vision became a reality and the first Community Bank of Wichita location opened in northeast Wichita. For the better part of the next decade, Community Bank built a loyal base of customers by elevating the level of service each individual received and by listening to their needs. In 2006, Community expanded it’s footprint by opening it’s first branch location in Haysville, KS to serve the needs of that community, Derby and south Wichita.

For more than 20 years, Community Bank has formed partnerships with countless small businesses, helping them achieve their dreams of successful small business ownership and operation.
